eBay remind users about genuine bidding as Five Brit Award hits £1.1m

Online marketplace eBay are reminding users that bidders must pay for items they win as a Brit Award won by former Five star Abz Love sits at £1.1m on the site.

The singer picked up the Best Pop Act prize alongside his then-bandmates at the ceremony in 2000.

Love recently put the award up on auction website eBay to raise a bit of cash.

However, within days bids on the item surpassed all expectations, with the highest bid currently sitting at £1,100,201 ($1,696,324).

In a statement released to Pressparty, eBay are reminding users that their bids must be genuine.

A spokesperson said: "Our customer service team is supporting Abz to manage the bidding process on his item.

"It is important to note that buyers enter into a legally binding contract to purchase an item from a seller if they win an auction on eBay and our Unpaid Item policy and User Agreement makes it clear that buyers must pay for the items that they commit to purchase.”
