Dave Grohl given NME's Godlike Genius award

The Foo Fighters' front man Dave Grohl will be honoured at 2011's NME Awards.

The musician and vocalist will be crowned the publication's Godlike Genius on February 23 at London's Brixton Academy, where the full band will also perform for the ceremony.

Other stars of the stage to have been awarded the same title include Paul Weller, The Cure and The Clash.

Speaking of the honour, Grohl said:

"I don't think I'm godlike or a genius. It’s flattering. It's a nice thing to be acknowledged for doing something you love to do, but in truth I don't consider it a body of work because I don't consider it work."
