Foo Fighters stream album and reveal ABBA influence

Stadium rockers Foo Fighters have surprised and delighted fans by streaming their forthcoming album, 'Wasting Light', in full, ahead of its release.

The record will be officially made available on April 11, but the band's followers are able to hear it all the way through on their website now. In addition to this, frontman Dave Grohl revealed some unusual influences to the Daily Star newspaper:

“I like loads of crazy-ass, dissonant, distorted rock ’n roll. But I also love the Bee Gees and Abba, bands whose pop choruses get bigger and bigger."

“I love anthemic choruses, that overwhelming feeling of release that you can connect with."

He added that he turned this admiration for the iconic pop supergroups into songwriting ammunition, which helped with 'Wasting Light':

“So whenever I thought I had a big enough chorus for a song, I would use that as the pre-chorus and then I would try and write something even bigger, like they did.”
