Foo Fighters to write music for new album in 2012

Foo Fighters have revealed that they will be "writing songs for our eighth studio album" after Christmas.

The band, who enjoyed great success this year with their garage-made record 'Wasting Light', wrote a blog post which confirmed that 2012 will see them getting back to work on new material. Frontman Dave Grohl explained:

"We're not finished yet. There are still more shows to play, more songs to write, more albums to record, for years to come. I mean if you would have told me 17 years ago that in 2012 I would be writing songs for our eighth studio album...well."

'Wasting Light' has been nominated for numerous Grammy awards, including the coveted Album of the Year prize, and it got to No.1 in the UK charts earlier this spring
