Maya Jenkins, also known as Maya J in the music world, is the epitome of youthful sass, talent, class, and optimistic mantras such as “Stay Sparkly!”. The upbeat actress, artist, and songwriter born in Los Angeles, California, is the one who coined the expression.

After beginning as an actress in 2014, she has been a consistent presence in more than one area of the entertainment industry. Maya has worked on numerous television and film projects, and on the music side, she is constantly working on new songs for TV networks, other popular artists, and for her own catalog.

Soon after releasing her first two singles, Maya was asked to write and perform an original song for the Freeform Network (formerly ABC Family), and her first release through Freeform/ Disney Entertainment group was entitled “Tell Me”. The network released that song exclusively via iTunes in 2018, and it is currently available for download and streaming across other platforms. “Tell Me” was featured as a promotional song for season 2 of the hit television series “Famous in Love”.

In 2018, Maya J earned her first major radio play as a solo artist with the popular single, “Come Find Me”. The official music video for the record premiered on VEVO worldwide in December 2017, and has since received on-air recognition through many venues throughout the following year. Maya’s following single, “Like You”, marked yet another self-written original creation by the young songwriter, which she also directed artistically and co-produced. Her upcoming releases include a mid-tempo tune entitled “Hurricane”, and a piano power ballad which title has not yet been revealed.

All of her releases up to this point will be included on her debut album, entitled “Symptoms of Life”. The chosen album title is a nod to her debut single (“Symptoms of You”), and it is a perfectly fitting description of her musical collection that takes you on her emotional journey as an artist. Maya’s smooth and moody music may seem like it is in stark contrast to her bubbly attitude and bright catchphrase, “Stay Sparkly!”; instead, the music is proof that her phrase comes from a much deeper place than initially meets the eye. Her lyrics tell of the twists and turns of her many experiences, and listeners can be immersed in her story and feel the reason why she insists on remaining positive in everything that she does, inside and outside of music.
