Classic FM, the UK’s most popular classical music station, is launching a new podcast – Classical Dreams – a collection of soothing stories to lull listeners into a calm and restful sleep.

To coincide with World Sleep Day today (Friday 18th March), Classic FM has brought together some of its much-loved presenters to read relaxing stories to help the nation drift into a peaceful night’s sleep. Exclusive to Global Player, Classical Dreams launches at a time when one in seven Brits is sleeping for less than five hours a night – considered a dangerously low level by medical professionals.

The series launches with four episodes – with another four to follow – voiced by Alexander Armstrong, Moira Stuart, Myleene Klass and Aled Jones. They weave tales from every corner of the world, specifically places that have inspired famous pieces of classical music: the streets of Vienna, Venice’s canals, Granada’s Alhambra Palace and the Appalachian Trail.
