Global grows its audience once more with a series of new records

Global radio brands now reach a massive 25.8 million people every week through radio alone, with audiences listening to 242 million hours, and taking a market-leading 24% share.

Global has the top three commercial radio brands in the UK for reach, hours and share with Heart, Capital and Smooth.

HEART

Heart celebrates 10.2m weekly listeners, extending its reign as the UK’s biggest commercial radio brand and growing in hours and share. The Heart brand has more than 2.5m more listeners than Radio 1.

Heart listeners are listening for longer – the brand scores a massive 65.3m hours and a share of 6.5%.

Heart Breakfast’s Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden grow their audience, scoring a huge 3.9 million weekly listeners. Jamie and Amanda reign supreme as the UK’s biggest commercial radio show and commercial breakfast show. Heart Breakfast is also London’s biggest commercial music breakfast show with 647,000

Heart’s decades stations 70s, 80s, 90s all experience huge audience gains as the nation turns up the nostalgia. Digital station Heart 80s grows in reach to 1.4m weekly listeners. Heart 70s hits a record breaking 438,000 listeners as it adds nearly 120,000 new listeners (37%) in three months.

Heart 90s reaches its largest ever audience with a massive 793,000 listeners, adding 248,000 new listeners in the last quarter (46%). The station also grows in hours and share.

Heart Dance also smashes a new record, achieving its highest ever listening figures with a massive 310,000 new listeners now tuning in each week, taking its audience reach to 658,000 which is 89% growth on the last quarter. It also celebrates a rise in hours and share.

LBC

The UK’s number one commercial talk brand, LBC reaches a record 3.5 million people across the UK each week – its 9th consecutive record increase and the highest in its 49-year history – adding 291,000 listeners in the past three months.

LBC News – Britain’s first national rolling news radio station – smashes the 1 million listeners mark for the first time and celebrates its 4th consecutive record increase, with 175,000 new listeners in the past quarter.

Nationally, LBC’s Nick Ferrari at Breakfast and James O’Brien both celebrate a record 1.4 million listeners across the UK. LBC’s daytime audience growth continues with Shelagh Fogarty and Eddie Mair, who attract more than 1.1 million people each, while Iain Dale celebrates a record 593,000 weekly listeners.

In London, LBC is the number one commercial station by a significant margin for hours and share, with a massive 17 million hours and an 8.6% share of the market.

Nick Ferrari at Breakfast is London’s number one commercial breakfast show for reach, hours and share, with 825,000 listeners tuning in each week.

Radio X

Radio X now has 1.9m listeners tuning in every week.

The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X has a huge audience of 1.1m listeners tuning in at Breakfast. Chris has grown in hours, and is ahead of Virgin Radio at Breakfast.

CAPITAL

Capital remains the UK’s no.1 hit music brand with 7.5m weekly listeners, extending its reach over the Kiss brand nationally, with over 3m more listeners tuning in every week.

Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp reaches a massive 2.5m weekly listeners. Capital Breakfast is the UK’s second biggest commercial breakfast show, second only to Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden on Capital’s sister station.

In London, Capital has 1.5m weekly listeners, beating both Kiss and Radio 1.

CAPITAL DANCE

Capital Dance‘s growth continues. The UK’s official dance station which launched in October 2020 with MistaJam at the helm, continues to boom, adding a phenomenal 208,000 listeners in the past three months, now reaching 800,000.

CAPITAL XTRA

Capital XTRA, the home of RnB and Hip-Hop in the UK, grows its audience to 1.5m people across the UK every week, more than double the audience of 1XTRA.

Capital XTRA Breakfast with Yinka and Shayna Marie reaches 471,000 weekly listeners.
Capital XTRA Reloaded adds a massive 134,000 new listeners in the last quarter, taking its weekly audience to 411,000 listeners, also growing in hours.

SMOOTH

Smooth confirms its position as the UK’s third largest commercial radio brand with 5.8 million people tuning in each week.

Smooth Chill and Smooth Country celebrate all-time records of 468,000 and 312,000 weekly listeners respectively.

CLASSIC FM

Celebrating its 30th birthday this year, Classic FM is the UK’s most popular classical music station, growing its audience by 100,000 people in the past quarter, with 5.2m listeners tuning in for a total of 44 million hours.

Alexander Armstrong’s flagship morning programme celebrates its highest audience figures with 2.4 million listeners every week.

GOLD

Gold adds 103,000 listeners in the past 3 months, with more than 1.4 million people now tuning in every week for nostalgic tunes.

THE OFFICIAL BIG TOP 40

The Official Big Top 40, hosted by Will Manning, officially remains the UK’s biggest chart show, growing its audience to 1.5m listeners, ahead of the Radio 1 chart.
IN LONDON…

LBC remains the number one commercial radio station for share and hours with 17 million hours and 8.6% share of the market.

In the competitive commercial London market Heart takes the top spot for reach on 1.6m.
