G-A-Y THE ALBUM 20 YEARS OF G-A-Y CELEBRATED IN A 3 CD / DIGITAL ALBUM

Featuring Exclusive Remixes

Released 7th October 2013 on Sony Music

The legendary G-A-Y celebrates 20 years at the forefront of club culture with a brand new compilation three CD and digital album, released on Sony Music.

Taking in the vast history of the club and the many incredible acts who have graced its stage, “G-A-Y The Album” recreates the soundtrack of a night at the world’s leading gay club.

“G-A-Y The Album” features hits from across the 20 years of G-A-Y’s existence to date, including many remixes and versions that are exclusive and not available elsewhere digitally. The album is both a potted history of the club’s involvement in UK pop and a taster of the great atmosphere of a G-A-Y night - including classics that were the inescapable hit of their year and have been a mainstay on the dance floor ever since, and featuring songs from some of the many huge artists who have thrilled the crowds. “G-A-Y The Album” shows just why clubbers and musicians alike have kept returning week after week for the last two decades.

Starting as a small club night in the early 90s, G-A-Y has transgressed its initial beginnings to become an institution of the British club scene. Under the guidance of founder Jeremy Joseph, over the years it has played host to performances from the likes of Madonna, Rihanna and Lady Gaga to One Direction and The Spice Girls. Initially held at Busbys – which then became LA2, G-A-Y then became synonymous with Saturday nights at London’s famous Astoria. Following the venue’s destruction in 2008 the club has since moved to Heaven, where it’s remained one of London’s key club nights ever since. London is also home to two G-A-Y bars, whilst Manchester G-A-Y venue is now the busiest gay bar in the city.

Jeremy Joseph says: “I can’t believe that G-A-Y is 20 Years old. It’s been an incredible journey of highs and lows. I never had a vision for G-A-Y, just to create something I enjoyed and hoped other would as well.  G-A-Y has always been about supporting artists at the beginning of their careers and supporting them as they grow, and in return as they get bigger, they continue to perform at G-A-Y.”
