Robbie Williams has let slip that Harry Styles has been working with Bruno Mars and Max Martin on new music as life after One Direction continues for the singer.

The pop star signed a solo record contract earlier this year with Columbia after his group went on a break at the end of 2015, but little is known about his work.

Speaking to The Radio Times, Williams said the Brit revealed to him that he had been working with some big name musicians and writers on his solo tunes - people that the Take That man had unsuccessfully tried to collaborate with.

He said: "Last year I tried to work with Bruno Mars – didn't hear anything back. Tried to work with Max Martin – didn't hear anything back. They literally didn't return my calls. Then I met Harry Styles in an airport. 'Oh, you're writing, Harry? Great, who with?' He goes: 'Well, I just spent a week with Bruno Mars, and I'm about to spend a week with Max Martin'."
