Halsey: 'Part of being a woman is being treated like a robot'

Halsey has spoken about suffering from endometriosis whilst being honored at the Endometriosis Foundation of America's annual Blossom Ball in New York's Cipriani 42nd Street.

The 23-year-old who is dating G-Eazy said: "One night I was in Chicago, I was playing the Vic Theatre. I was doing an event for Vevo which is a large platform - 33 million impressions which is a number I'll never forget because that night in Chicago I had a miscarriage. I was 20 years old. I didn't even know I was pregnant.

"I remember laying on a bed in a hotel room with a towel between my legs. I remember looking at my very young, very scared, very male manager who had no idea what was going on, and I remember them looking at me and saying 'you know it's 33 million impressions, this concert's kind of a very big deal'.

'I had a choice to make at that moment, I took a percocet and put on an adult incontinence diaper and wore a long t-shirt that would cover it and I went on stage and performed in front of 1,200 screaming teenage girls.

'That's when I realised that part of being a woman in dealing with reproductive health is being treated like you're not a human, is being treated like a robot. You're supposed to wake up every day and get over it.

'It was also on that day I realised I could overcome anything, and if I wanted to pursue this career there was absolutely nothing that would get in my f***king way.'

She then spoke about going to Planned Parenthood where she was diagnosed with endometriosis.

Endometriosis is a condition that affected women in which the womb lining sheds internally causing organs to stick together resulting in pain.
