Riding atop the crest of the Irish community’s wave for marriage equality and shooting straight to Number 1 in the Irish Rock charts, JD Kelleher brings a heartfelt and poignant cover of Joy Division’s 1980s post-punk classic: “Love Will Tear Us Apart”, with the effortlessly thought provoking duet featuring fellow Irish muso, Peter M. Smith.

Singer, Songwriter and Actor JD Kelleher, who is known for his roles as Willie Pearse in TV mini-series 1916 The Forgotten Seven and Breandán Mac Gearailt in Irish soap Ros na Rún has previously been at the forefront of Ireland’s “Yes Vote” ahead of the Marriage Equality Referendum. Kelleher explains the rousing cover of “Love Will Tear Us Apart” aimed to “Raise awareness to the need for a positive vote for freedom”. Raise awareness it did, and contributed to a change in the Thirty-fourth Amendment of the Constitution of Ireland and the legalization of same sex marriage.

“Love Will Tear Us Apart”, released 7th March 2016 and taken from JD’s debut album to be released later this year, see’s a beautiful version of the new-wave classic. Hauntingly alluring guitars lead to a fresh and organic sounding rendition that compliments the honesty and emotion in Kelleher’s captivating vocals. The track saunters smoothly drawing the listener in with a sense of hope and reflection before the symphonic rock journey is brought to a climactic end with iconic calls of “freedom”.

Recorded at AB Studio in El Vendrell, Spain and released via Lonely Child Records, the critically acclaimed track fired to Number 1 in the Irish Rock charts and saw a forcible climb up the National Irish charts.
