England v Croatia Semi Final peaks with 26.6m viewers.

The audience hit a 1 minute peak of 26.6 million viewers/84% share last night on ITV as the nation came together to cheer on England in the Semi Final of the 2018 Fifa World Cup.

Between kick off at 19.00 and final whistle at 21.37 an average audience of 24.3 million viewers were watching, an 81% share of viewing. The match also had 4.3 million simulcast requests on ITV Hub – a new record, the Hub’s biggest ever number for live programming.

The ITV match coverage from 18.45 until 22.29 was watched by 20.2m/74% share of viewing.

Notes to Editors

The match average of 24.3 million viewers is bigger than the audiences to the Olympic Opening and Closing Ceremonies of London 2012, and Torvill and Dean in 1994 at the Lillehammer Winter Olympics.

Last night's audience of 24.3 million viewers is the highest football audience on a single channel ever (Italy 1990 England v West Germany was broadcast on ITV and BBC, as was England v Argentina in Mexico 1986)
