GET WILD IN 2012! EARLY-BIRD TICKETS GO ON-SALE FOR WINNER OF THE UK’S BEST NEW FESTIVAL OF 2011, WILDERNESS

Tickets for Wilderness, the award-winning festival that debuted this year on the Cornbury Park estate in Oxfordshire, go on sale today for the 2012 weekend spectacular.

The ground-breaking festival of musicianship, theatre, talks, panel debates, late-night parties, outdoor pursuits and food experiences was named as the UK’s ‘Best New Festival’ at last night’s Festival Awards UK.

The Festival Awards UK are the annual ‘Oscars’ of the contemporary music festival industry, with a mixture of industry experts, reviewers and journalists deciding on the best festivals the country has to offer.

The festival will return to Cornbury Park after a highly-successful debut year, with over 10,000 festival-goers in attendance. The festival will take place on Friday 10 August – Sunday 12 August 2012 for another three-days of spellbinding experiences and enchantment.

A limited amount of ‘early bird’ tickets are going on-sale today at a discounted price and are expected to sell out fast. Tickets start just £99.50 for weekend adult camping tickets; £49.75 for a weekend young person ticket (11-17 years old) and best of all, children 10 years-old or younger go free! Tickets are available via www.wildernessfestival.com.

This year’s festival saw unique happenings across the weekend. Antony and the Johnsons’ collaborated with the Heritage Orchestra, there were promenade theatre shows from The Old Vic Tunnels, a full lakeside spa, talks from the likes of philosopher Julian Baggini and an evening 200-person strong banquet from the likes of Thomas Hunt, Skye Gyngell and Moro’s Sam & Sam Clark all shaped a mouth-watering weekend.

Tim Harvey, Wilderness organiser, says: “Winning the best new festival award, attracting over 10,000 people and still getting rave reviews - It's been a overwhelming start to Wilderness!

"The Wilderness concept is pretty special. It goes beyond the normal boundaries of a music festival experience and we've got a world-class team of collaborators and curators lined-up for ‘Round 2’ next August. The ideas being worked on for 2012 are mouth-watering and I can't wait to start announcing our plans early next year."

Lady Rotherwick, who opened the gates of her family home for the weekend added: “We’re used to having music festivals on the Cornbury Estate but Wilderness was more interesting, eclectic and special than anything we’ve had before.

“The Wilderness experience is all about having no boundaries, it’s a weekend of free-spirited exploration and enjoyment. We look forward to seeing everyone here again next year!”
