FAN SOCIAL POWER TO RELEASE NEW TODDLA T & ROSES GABOR TRACK

Artists Take on Second Creative BACARDÍ Beginnings Project

(LONDON, 21 AUGUST 2013): Following the exciting BACARDÍ Beginnings 24-hour A&R collaboration between Rudimental and Bipolar Sunshine, renowned DJ and producer Toddla T and his chosen emerging artist, Roses Gabor, will continue to push the boundaries of music releases with the mentoring programme’s second creative project titled ‘Beats Per Minute’.

On 4 September at 7pm, these two artists will release their new track ‘Pandora’s Box (BACARDÍ Beginnings)’ together using the power of social media. In a creative twist to standard single releases, only the first beat of the track will be released online – with each ‘tweet’ on Twitter and Facebook ‘like’ the track receives, more of the track will become available to listen to, until it is entirely released.

Once the track is fully unlocked, a remix competition will begin for budding producers. The stems (individual parts of the track) will become available for people to reinterpret. The winner of the remix competition will be chosen by Toddla T and Roses Gabor. The winner’s prize will include a production masterclass in the studio with Toddla T, remix software and, finally, the winning track will be played at the next BACARDÍ Beginnings event. Fans can unlock, listen to, and remix the track at www.BacardiBeginnings.com.

Toddla T and Roses Gabor are the second set of three established acts and three hot emerging artists that are paired together to push the boundaries of music releases as part of the BACARDÍ Beginnings music mentoring programme. Each pairing will be given a unique brief around the creation, production and experience of music, while also releasing original tracks together.

Releasing a host of remixes, Sheffield boy Toddla T (AKA Tom Bell) has established himself as one of the hottest producers, DJs and remixers in the industry. With a DJ residency on Radio 1, he has collaborated with high profile artists such as Roots Manuva and Shola Ama as well as up-and-coming acts, proving himself to be the ideal mentor for Roses Gabor.

Londoner and emerging artist Roses Gabor – one of the UK underground’s hottest vocal talents – has already impressed big-name artists with her raw electro-future soul sound. Grabbing the attention of producers, artists and DJs, she has lent her vocals to tracks with SBTRKT and Gorillaz.

Speaking about the project, Toddla T says: “New music and new talent really excite me as a producer. Roses Gabor came straight into my mind when I was asked to take on the BACARDÍ Beginnings challenge as she has such a distinctive sound and vibe. The main thing for me about this project is making a great song. I’m genuinely excited to see what people do with the parts. The idea that people can grab bits and do their own thing means there is no limit to creativity. That’s the reason for a remix, to take it to your own world.”

Roses Gabor adds: “Toddla T is such an exciting producer. He, as much as me, is very eclectic in the styles that he likes, so together we’ve come up with something that is pretty special for BACARDÍ Beginnings. I can’t wait to see people’s response – when we release the first beat and when we throw it open for the remixing competition. If it’s remixed by a fan and it’s better than the original, that’s even cooler!”

BACARDÍ Beginnings was created in 2012 to give up-and-coming artists the opportunity to be mentored by established acts and showcase their sound to a wider audience. Last year saw Joe Goddard (Hot Chip), Friendly Fires and Mylo work with Jessie Ware, AlunaGeorge and Ronika, respectively.

The first project of 2013 saw Rudimental and Bipolar Sunshine undertake the A&R process in just 24 hours to create an original track ‘Distance (BACARDÍ Beginnings)’, as well as release and perform it. Fans can watch their creative process below.

The details of the final artist pairing involved in the BACARDÍ Beginnings programme and their creative project will be revealed in October.

BACARDÍ Beginnings aims to encourage people to boldly pursue their passions, just as the iconic rum brand has done for more than 150 years - whether creating a revolution in rum-making, inspiring pioneering cocktails, or fighting for freedom.

About BACARDÍ rum - The World’s Most Awarded rum

In 1862, in the city of Santiago de Cuba, founder Don Facundo Bacardí Massó revolutionized the spirits industry when he created the world’s first smooth, light-bodied spirit – BACARDÍ rum. The unique taste of BACARDÍ rum inspired cocktail pioneers to create some of the world’s most famous cocktail recipes including the BACARDÍ Mojito, the BACARDÍ Daiquirí, the BACARDÍ Cuba Libre, BACARDÍ Piña Colada and the BACARDÍ Presidente. Seven generations later, the Bacardi company is still family-owned, and BACARDÍ rum has won more than 550 awards for quality, taste and innovation. Today, BACARDÍ rum is made in Puerto Rico and Mexico, where it is crafted to ensure the taste remains the same today as it did when it was first blended in 1862.
