AMERICAN AUTHORS SIGNED TO ISLAND RECORDS!

SELF TITLED DEBUT EP TO BE RELEASED  AUGUST 27TH

GAINING TRACTION WITH DEBUT TRACKS, "BELIEVER," and "BEST DAY OF MY LIFE"(see videos below)

SUMMER TOUR SCHEDULE INCLUDES HEADLINING SHOWS, FESTIVALS (LOLLAPALOOZA AND MORE), PLUS DATES WITH THE MOWGLI'S

(July 16, 2013 - New York, NY)  Brooklyn-based American Authors have written their ticket for a packed summer season of shows across the country, as tv and radio exposure for their premiere tracks on Island Records - "Believer" & "Best Day of My Life" pile up recognition for the band, whose self-titled debut EP will be released August 27th.

"Best Day of My Life" has been featured nationwide on commercials for Lowe's® Home Improvement stores(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGz9I9K2SM0) as well as on spots for cable tv's History Channel 2.  At the same time, the "Believer - Brooklyn Version" video was added to the mtvU Freshmen program (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIhWk86R9Ao), and viewers of FOX's So You Think You Can Dance also heard the song.

American Authors hit the road again this summer kicking off at Chicago's Lollapalooza, held over the first weekend. in August.  The band will open a series of East Coast shows for fellow Island Records group the Mowgli's, August 6th through August 13th, followed by a performance at Detroit's MoPop Music & Arts Festival.  (Please see tour dates below.)  Stay in touch with American Authors at their website,http://weareamericanauthors.com/.

SiriusXM Alt Nation's tastemaker DJs and diehard listeners wholeheartedly embraced "Believer" and sent the song to channel 36's tough-as-nails "Alt 18 Countdown."  It then went on to become the most played song on Alt Nation so far this year!  A huge spike in social media and music sales followed, an enthusiastic bevy of 'Believers,' and a mini-tour with fellow alt rockers A Silent Film, GoldFields, and Carousel, as well as an appearance at SXSW.

The four members of American Authors - Zac Barnett (vocals), James Adam Shelley (guitar/banjo), Dave Rublin (bass), and Matt Sanchez (drums) - hail from the four corners of the country, but first met as students at Berklee College of Music.  They soon dropped out, moved into a small apartment in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn, and started a band.  Their cover of Cindy Lauper's "True Colors" on the fan-driven "MTV Iggy" online contest won them a Chevy Spark.

Meanwhile, producers Shep Goodman and Aaron Accetta saw the band perform and signed them to their production company, Dirty Canvas.  Each member of American Authors brings his own influences and experiences to the table, creating pop-flavored alt rock sprinkled with four-part harmonies, spirited lyrics, and contagious optimism.  "We're the authors of our lives," said Barnett, "creating music from what we've lived, from what we hope for, from what we feel.  Every day is different and like everyone, our emotions change according to our personal highs and lows and by the challenges or triumphs that affect all of us. We're not afraid to be goofy one day and serious the next. We just want to be true to ourselves and share our stories for as long as people are willing to listen."
