James Arthur on being re-signed by Syco

James Arthur says it felt like a huge compliment when Syco wanted to resign him.

The singer was dumped by Simon Cowell's label less than two years after he won the X Factor in 2012.

However, they came back in for him ahead of the release of his comeback single 'Say You Won't Let Go', which has been No.1 in the UK for two weeks.

Arthur told the Evening Standard there was a part of him that felt like rejecting the label's advances.

However, he said he was a "sucker" for the story of the label coming back to snap him up.

The musician said: "I probably shouldn’t say this, but there was a part of me that thought: ‘F*** you, I might have a hit single here and I don’t need Syco. I could stick the finger up to them’.

"But they said: ‘Please let us back in. We want to be part of this amazing story’. And it made sense to me. I’m a sucker for that story.

"Syco are notorious for dropping people, so what a compliment it is for them to re-sign me. So I thought, ‘Let’s do the full circle’."
