James Arthur says using several producers "f*cked up" his album creativity

James Arthur has admitted that using a number of producers on his debut album stunted his creativity.

The X Factor 2012 winner released his maiden self-titled effort on Monday (November 4) and he teamed up with a host of external music maestros on the record, including Naughty Boy and Labrinth.

Speaking at an album signing in London on the day of his record's release, the 'Impossible' man conceded that swapping producers didn't allow him to settle into his creative stride.

He said: "There are a lot of people that it's mandatory that you have to work with. I worked with several producers in America and several here, and for my next record I certainly won't be doing that. It's not conducive to being creative; it takes a couple of days to build up a rapport with a producer and then after that you're on to the next one.

"That f**ks up your creativity, so that's the only hindrance I've had on this record. But I knew there was going to be a lot of fathers on this record, but it's my debut. Next time I want to only work with one or two producers."

Arthur preceded his album with the release of single 'You're Nobody 'Til Somebody Loves You', which hit No.2 in the UK.
