James Arthur: 'Bring on the hate, f**k boybands'

Former 'X Factor' winner James Arthur has continued his tirade against boybands and manufactured pop acts this afternoon (November 7) with a Twitter rant about not caring if people like or dislike him for being outspoken.

He got into hot water recently after slamming fellow talent show winner Matt Cardle, then made a slight dig at One Direction by implying that they might not always perform live, but contradicted his general opinion by praising rising stars The Vamps.

Writing on his official Twitter page this afternoon, he explained that he has only ever met one 'genuine' boyband on the circuit and that he has little respect for the rest of them: "And fuck boybands! Bring on the hate I don't wanna be popular. Apart from JLS who are genuinely the coolest people I've met in music."

His tweets were met with a flurry of criticism and he returned to the social networking site to tell his followers that he doesn't care if people don't agree with him or what he has to say: "People so serious. Take it with a pinch of salt it's only music. Or is it...."

Savan Kotecha, One Direction's songwriter and former vocal producer for the 'X Factor', weighed in on Arthur's comments and joked that he's one to talk considering some of his debut album was written by boyband collaborators: "It's always strange when artists diss boy bands but have an album written and produced mostly by people who work with boy bands..."
