James Arthur mocks Matt Cardle's sales figures

James Arthur has responded to a jibe made by Matt Cardle that called into question the sales figures of his debut album.

The 2010 X Factor winner told Digital Spy recently that he is having the last laugh in their ongoing feud as his debut record sold about 7,000 more copies than Arthur's self-titled maiden album in their respective first weeks.

He said: "Well, there you go. Having slagged me and my career off for a year now, the numbers are in and they speak for themselves. Like I initially said 12 months ago, I wish him well, I think he is talented and I hope he is still around in 3 years time."

However, Arthur has taken to Twitter to reference the sales of Cardle's latest album 'Porcelain' and further slag off the singer-songwriter.

He said: "And you can hardly call being in the top 20 for 2 seconds selling 700 copies or whatever it takes to chart now "still being around". Where's it now? Number 190 or summit. LOL."

The 'Impossible' man added: "296 constitutes still being around? Maybe on digital spy flower.. You sound like the singer out the feeling but much much worse #LOVE."

Arthur then spent the next while retweeting messages of praise from his fans.

The two X Factor winners have been sparring for some time after Arthur suggested that male victors from the show haven't been successful.
