Jennifer Hudson "wouldn't really pay any attention" to Simon Cowell's vocal advice

Songstress Jennifer Hudson has revealed that she doesn't pay much attention to Simon Cowell's advice on what it means to be a good singer because that is simply "not his thing".

During an interview with Britain's Telegraph newspaper the star, who will appear on the new series of The Voice UK as a coach tonight, explained that his area of expertise isn't vocal ability so she wouldn't advise people to take what he says about singing too seriously:

"His role on that show was mainly to look at image, I think, and I wouldn't really pay any attention to what he says about vocals. That's not his thing. At the time Simon told me I was 'Too big, in every way.' I think he meant my hair, my voice, my personality, my songs. I didn't really understand how that was a negative thing. I said, 'Is big not what a star is?'"

She went onto add that her own style of judging will be firm, but fair because she doesn't see the point in giving people false hope if they don't have what it takes: "If a note goes wrong, my body reacts. I've got sympathy for them, but there's no point lying."
