Jennifer Hudson to perform Whitney Houston tribute at 2012 GRAMMYs

Jennifer Hudson is set to pay a "respectful" tribute to the late Whitney Houston at tonight's (February 12) GRAMMY Awards.

News broke late last night that the 'I Will Always Love You' superstar had passed away (February 11) and Neil Portnow, president of the Recording Academy, has now confirmed that Hudson will honour the star with a special performance at the ceremony:

"I've asked Jennifer Hudson to come, and we're really at this moment talking about what she's going to do. It's going to be something respectful. It's not going to be a full-blown tribute, that's too early and it's too fresh at this moment."

"It's going to be something respectful to Whitney's memory," he continued. "Knowing Whitney like I did, she was a great artist and a great performer, and she knew the importance of thrilling an audience, and that's what we plan to do."

Houston was once the queen of the international music industry, winning six Grammys and two Tony Awards.
