Joe Jonas believes Justin Bieber's father could be one of the main reasons behind the singer's personal troubles.

The 20-year-old Canadian appears to have gone off the rails somewhat over the last year and he is due to face trial on May 5 on substance and driving charges.

Bieber is also charged with assaulting a limo driver in Toronto in a separate case.

However, Joe Jonas told Scene magazine that he thinks the singer's father Jeremy could be behind his problems.

The musician said: "I've had an easier route than most. The youngsters just turning 20, the Biebers of the world, are under a microscope. [Justin] is having a very tough time finding balance. I think we all saw it coming.

"Your dad is your party animal - that's going to sum it up pretty quick. There's an equation for some sort of explosion."
