Kate Bush on cusp of returning to stage after 35 years

Kate Bush is set to make her live return tonight (August 26) after an absence of 35 years.

Her self-penned debut single 'Wuthering Heights' was a number one hit for Bush at the young age of 19.

The legendary singer-songwriter and recluse is set to play at the same venue where she first completed her The Tour of Life at 20.

Bush will bring her Before The Dawn residency to London's Hammersmith Apollo from tonight for a run of 22 shows.

It will be the first time the star has played live after more than three decades, since her one and only tour in 1979.

Tickets for her shows sold out within a record 15 mins. Little information is known about what fans should expect from the sold-out shows, but Bush took to her official website recently to ask gig-goers to refrain from taking photos and videos.

She wrote: "We have purposefully chosen an intimate theatre setting rather than a large venue or stadium. It would mean a great deal to me if you would please refrain from taking photos or filming during the shows.

"I very much want to have contact with you as an audience, not with iPhones, iPads or cameras. I know it's a lot to ask, but it would allow us to all share in the experience together."

The artist, whose last album came in the shape of 2011's '50 Words For Snow', added that rehearsals for the shows have been going "very well".
