Keane score fifth consecutive UK number one album

Keane have today become only the fifth act in chart history to reach number one with their first five albums.

The East Sussex quartet’s new studio effort, ‘Strangeland,’ followed 2004 debut 'Hopes & Fears,' 2006’s 'Under The Iron Sky,' 2008’s 'Perfect Symmetry' and 2010’s 'Night Train' by entering at the top spot to emulate a feat only previously achieved by The Beatles, Oasis, Robbie Williams and Coldplay.

Emeli Sande’s ‘Our Version Of Events’ climbed from 8-2 following her performance of ‘My Kind Of Love’ on The Voice’s Sunday night results show, just ahead of a new entry from Richard Hawley (‘Standing At The Sky’s Edge’), Adele’s ever-present ‘21’ and Lana Del Rey's 'Born To Die.'

Elsewhere, there were debuts for The Cribs’ ‘In The Belly Of The Brazen Bull’ (No.9), Cover Drive's Bajan Style (No.14), B.o.B’s ‘Strange Clouds’ (No.30), The Proclaimers’ ‘Like Comedy’ (No.31), My Bloody Valentine’s ‘E.P.s 1988-1991’ (No.33) and King Charles’ ‘Loveblood' (No.36), while last week’s number one, Marina & The Diamonds’ ‘Electra Heart,’ nosedived to No.13.
