Keane on post-'Strangeland' plans: 'We've written some gothic songs'

Chart-toppers Keane have opened up about the success of their latest studio album and revealed that they're working on some new "gothic" material.

In an interview with Digital Spy, the 'Somewhere Only We Know' stars explained that they believed whole-heartedly in 'Strangeland' after hearing it in full upon its completion and were confident about it as a body of work, although hitting the No.1 spot on the UK albums chart was unexpected:

"We worked on this record until we were completely happy with it - with a producer this time as well - and hoped for the best."

Band member Jesse added: "I felt like we worked so hard on this one that if people called it a failure then we could call them idiots. That's how pleased we were with the end result."

When asked about their next step, Keane admitted that some of their new material has a gothic edge and they would love to team up with Florence + the Machine for a collaboration:

"There are millions of people we'd like to work with. Tim has written these gothic songs and we don't know what to do with them. It'd be great to do this song 'Valentine' as a duet with a female like Florence + the Machine. Ceremonials was a f**king brilliant album."
