LONDON, 21 October 2020 -- ASCAP, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, today announced the winners of their first ever virtual ASCAP London Music Awards 2020. With top awards going to the cream of British songwriting talent including Steve Mac (five awards), Bastille’s Dan Smith (three awards), Lewis Capaldi (two awards), CHVRCHES, The xx’s Romy Madley Croft and many more, the winners will be honoured over @ASCAP Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and @ASCAPLondon Instagram during 21 and 22 October 2020 with the hashtag #ASCAPAwards. ASCAP will share exclusive photos and videos from the winners as part of the virtual event.

One of the most successful songwriters of the 21st century, Steve Mac receives a massive five awards in 2020. Along with Bastille’s Dan Smith, the pair are honoured three times for the chart-topping “Happier” (by Marshmello ft. Bastille) with Song of the Year, Top EDM Song and Top Streaming Song.

Steve Mac’s fourth award also see CHVRCHES’ Lauren Mayberry, Martin Doherty and Iain Cook recognised for“Here with Me” as a Winning EDM Song. Steve Mac’s final award with another Winning EDM Song is for “Call You Mine” by Chainsmokers ft. Bebe Rexha.

Two years after its release, Lewis Capaldi’s self-penned global smash “Someone You Loved” remains a big winner, claiming both the Winning Hot 100 Song and Winning Streaming Song awards in 2020.

The xx’s Romy Madley Croft is also honoured with a Winning EDM Song award for penning Silk City & Dua Lipa’s global smash hit “Electricity.” Two other Winning EDM Song awards went to Corey Sanders for “365” (Zedd & Katy Perry) and Samuel Gray for “Takeaway” (Chainsmokers & ILLENIUM ft. Lennon Stella).

ASCAP also recognises the best composers in the worlds of film and television with nine awards. Claiming Film Score of the Year is John Lunn for his work on the score for box-office smash Downton Abbey. Daniel Pembertonreceives two Top Film Awards for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and the Danny Boyle-directed Yesterday.Other Top Film Awards went to Dario Marianelli for Bumblebee, Devonté Hynes for Queen & Slim and Anne Dudley for The Hustle.

Top of the small screen, all winning Top Television Series Awards, are Rael Jones for the period drama Harlots,Ruth Barrett for ITV’s Victoria and Tom Howe for the action-comedy drama Whiskey Cavalier.
