Dr. Max More of life extension foundation Alcor joined LIT Entertainment News today, Tuesday, January 26 for an exclusive live interview, in which he revealed he met with Larry King at his home in 2015 to discuss arrangements to be cryogenically frozen.

The Alcor ambassador and futurologist joined LIT’s hosts Bradford How, Sloane Glass and Ruba Wilson to discuss his interactions with Larry King, and whether he is in Alcor’s Scottsdale, Arizona facility.

The transcript is below. If you plan to report on this interview I kindly ask that you include a credit: In an exclusive interview with LIT Entertainment News.

Larry King was pretty public about his desire to be frozen at the point of death. Have you ever met him or made his acquaintance?
“I have, actually. I did visit his house in 2015, I believe it was. I went over there from Arizona to talk about cryonics and arrangements and discuss it with him. So I did get to meet him at that point.”

Are you able to confirm whether Larry King is at Alcore? Did he request the services of Alcore?
“I can neither confirm nor deny that. When people sign up with us they can choose to be public or they can choose to be private. So if you ask about someone they may not be a member, or they may be a member who's private. So I cannot confirm or deny that.”

We reached out to Cryonics Institute because they are the only other major cryogenic firm in the United States. They confirmed that Larry King is not with them. How do you respond?
“I'm not sure what their policies are and whether they have private members or not. But that's something we're very careful about. We guard our members’ privacy very carefully. So we may have some quite well-known people signed up, but I can’t unfortunately name their names.
We have had some members who when they first signed up with us elected to be private. But then in the press they've said they had arrangements with Alcor, but we are still stuck by agreement. So we're in an ironic situation sometimes when it's pretty obvious that someone's a member but we can't confirm or deny it.”

What is Cryonics?
“Cryonics is the practice of preserving human beings at the point of clinical death, or legal death, to stop them getting worse, and essentially enabling them to get to the future when we have more advanced technology to fix the problems that have stopped their body functioning today.
The idea is to store someone at extremely cold temperatures, minus 320 degrees Fahrenheit, and wait for decades if necessary until possibly we’ll have the technology that can go into the cells and repair them and bring [them] back rejuvenated to carry on living.”

How many bodies do you have in your facility?
“We describe them as patients, because in our view these are people, much like people in a deep coma except with no metabolism. We still regard them as people who are potentially recoverable. We have over 180 patients right now.”

Can you guarantee patients will be brought back?
“We can't guarantee anything and it wouldn't be honest to do, frankly, because we don't know what conditions a body might stop functioning in. And we can’t absolutely guarantee the technology will be developed. But we do think it's plausible. It’s really a matter of relying on the advancing technology and seeing what we can already do along these lines today in terms of cryo-preserving human tissues that we do all the time -- eggs, sperm, corneas, heart valves. We cryo-preserve those all the time and then re-warm them and use them. So we know this is almost certainly possible but we don't guarantee it because that really is not something we can do.”
