The Bachelor’s Serena Pitt joined LIT Entertainment News today, Tuesday, March 9 for a live interview, in which she spoke for the first time about the racism issues surrounding the franchise and whether she could be the next Bachelorette.

Serena joined LIT’s hosts Bradford How, Sloane Glass and Ruba Wilson to discuss the behind the scenes reality of Season 25, her decision to leave, and Matt James kissing with his eyes open :/

The interview transcript is below. If you plan to report on this interview I kindly ask that you include a credit: In an interview with LIT Entertainment News.

On whether she’d consider being the next Bachelorette:
“Yes I would consider it. I mean, I am single and I'm still ready and looking for love and that commitment, that lifelong relationship. So if they were to offer me that opportunity, I can see how this journey works, and as much as it didn't work out for me this time around, I came in as a skeptic and I left as a believer, so yeah, I would be open to taking on that opportunity.”

On the rumors that Katie could be the next Bachelorette:
“Yeah, I've heard these rumors too. I mean, Katie had a lot of really shining moments this season. She's a little older than me, she's got experience, maturity, and I know that she's also feeling very ready to find that person. She had a lot of growth in her life and on the show that she talked about at Women Tell All, so we're all just going to have to wait and see I guess!”

On whether Matt was a good kisser:
“I will tell the truth: the eyes thing weirds me out. I didn't even know it was a thing until watching the season back. But he's a good kisser! I mean, there are more than enough scenes of us making out, there are ones that didn't make the edit, there was chemistry. But it was crazy watching it back and seeing his eyes open the whole time because I never opened mine to check! I've never met anyone that does that.”

On Rachael K and Chris Harrison’s statements about the racism issues plaguing the Bachelor franchise:
“There’s been a lot that's come out this season. It's been disappointing; a lot of it's been really disappointing and difficult to be dealing with, and frankly exhausting. All we can ask for is for people to take accountability for their actions and apologize for them, and do the work to educate themselves and move from a state of ignorance. I think that a lot of what we've seen this season has been ignorance around the topic of race, and a lot of harmful actions have come from that, unfortunately. But I've appreciated the statements. I saw Rachael's video where she discusses how she's going to be using her platform to share her journey, and to take her followers on this journey of educating herself. And she is promising to not do that as a one-day thing, but as an extensive, lifelong journey for herself, and I really appreciate that.”

On the energy and arguments this season:
It was hard to watch each episode be so consumed by the drama and the conflict in the house, because from at least my experience it didn't feel like that was the majority of what I lived. But obviously from a viewer’s perspective it seems like all that happened in our house was these fights and difficult conversations and mean comments. But I overall had a really positive journey, so it was sad to not get to see more of the friendships and the really funny, cute, comedic moments that we shared and also just a lot of the relationships. It does feel like a lot of the season is consumed with drama, but I keep reassuring people that there was so much more to the journey than what was shown.”

On why she chose to leave so late in the game:
“Matt and I had a great relationship. I mean, an instant connection, we had chemistry; it was a really strong, uphill climb for us this season. It just got to the point where an engagement was around the corner and I had to really reflect on if I saw this being for the rest of my life. I was really hopeful to get to a place where I did feel those things, but at the end of the, day when I took that time to reflect and talked to my family and those doubts came up to the surface, I was able to get some clarity and just see that it wasn't the right decision for me to stay and continue on with him.”
