Lawson frontman's liver failure delays second album

UK pop-rock band Lawson have revealed that their sophomore album was shelved last year after frontman Andy Brown suffered liver failure.

Brown explained to The Independent newspaper that they had just finished writing the follow up album to 2013's platinum-selling 'Chapman Square' and were due to fly to Nashville to record it when he was hospitalised and subsequently diagnosed:

"The head of my record label then called me up, all concerned, like ... That's when I knew things were serious."

When asked if he knows what caused his liver to fail, the heartthrob admitted that he suspects he had a drink spiked: "Don't know how it happened, really, or why. I guess I might be a target, if anyone recognises me. I've looked into this, and it happens a lot, spiking drinks. More than you'd think."

Following the interview's release, Brown took to Twitter and thanked his fans for all of their support:

"Thank you for all your touching comments on the article. The thought of being back on stage performing for our fans is what got me through the traumatic experience in my life. I wouldn't have recovered without the support of my family, closest friends, management and record label. Now let's get this show on the ROAD."
