Lawson reveal their songwriting inspiration

'Roads' hitmakers Lawson have revealed that inspiration for songs can hit at any time and can appear in the form of an overheard conversation, dialogue on a television show or a real-life experience.

Frontman Andy Brown told Digital Spy that he's influenced by the world around him and loves to pen tracks about real things that move or interest him:

"As a songwriter I get inspired by everything. If you said something now that I thought was quite cool, after you'd left I'd write it down on my phone! It's just what I do when watching TV or hearing people talk on the street. That's what we've always been about, Lawson, writing songs that are about real-life stuff."

When asked about their 18-month hiatus, the star admitted that although they were out of the spotlight they made sure to keep abreast on what was happening within the music industry:

"We were definitely keeping an eye on what was going on, because we're all just big music fans. We were still immersed in the writing and recording aspect, and obviously that takes so long anyway that it didn't feel like a rush to get back out there. We could've done things a lot quicker and rushed back, but I don't think the end product would've been as good."
