Little Mix's Jade defends tweet opposing bombing of Syria

Songstress Jade Thirlwall, of Little Mix fame, has revealed that tweeting about the government's decision to bomb Syria was important to her and she wanted to tell the world she was and is firmly against it.

On December 2, Thirlwall tweeted the following message: "Truly saddened and ashamed by the vote tonight. So, so sorry to the innocent people of Syria xxjadexx (sic)."

Speaking to Britain's The Mirror newspaper, the beauty admitted that she doesn't regret using the band's social media platform to share her political views because she shouldn't feel silenced purely because she's a pop star:

"If our opinions can positively influence our younger fans to want to be more aware of what’s going on in the world, that can only be a good thing."

She went onto add that Little Mix's management don't stop them from saying what they feel online and she and the other girls will continue to speak freely:

“We have free reign on social media to say what we think and how we feel. There are touchy subjects we want to talk about. We’re allowed to have opinions. Just because we’re pop stars it doesn’t mean we’re not entitled to our opinions. People are going to mock what I say anyway. People like to think stars don’t have a brain and can’t have an opinion on anything political."
