Lorde: "I've always been into the idea of confidence"

Lorde says she is attracted to the idea of confidence.

The singer is only 17 years old but she has seen her stock rise hugely over the past year with the help of the smash hit song 'Royals'.

Despite her age, it seems the New Zealander doesn't shy away from making bold statements in the press and speaking to Rolling Stone, she said that being confident is a large part of her make-up.

Lorde said: "I've always been into the idea of confidence. Even my stage name is kind of cocky and grandiose."

The 'Pure Heroine' star added that rising talent should try to set boundaries for themselves otherwise things might go awry:

"If you want your music to be heard ...you can just put stuff on the internet and people can love it and that's cool. You have to go into it with an idea of who you are and what you want to do, and you have to have an idea of the things that you won't do, and the things that you want to aspire to. Because if you have clear goals and absolute no's for yourself, then people can figure it out. And then you won't be left like, 'Oh, sh*t, why did I do that..' I don't know, juice commercial."
