Lorde's school celebrates Grammy wins

Lorde's recent Grammy wins have been honoured by her school in New Zealand with a large banner.

The 17-year-old singer picked up two prizes at Sunday's (January 26) Grammys - Best Pop Solo Performance and Song of the Year - for her song 'Royals'.

It has been an incredible rise to fame for the young star, who left education to go full-time with music.

Her old school, Takapuna Grammar, paid tribute to their pupil by revealing a large banner that drapes over the front of their building.

Acting principal Brian Wynn commented: "It's a fantastic day, it's very exciting. All the students are new in today and they're all bubbling and are very excited. I watched the awards and I know most of the students watched. Devonport was very quiet yesterday, they must have been in their lounges watching TV. She's a confident, talented, just a brilliant young woman...her talent is immense and she deserves it."

Lorde's friend and the school's head boy Harry Ellworthy added that he doesn't think the singer will return to her studies as a result of her fame.
