Lorde on getting older: 'The thought of it wakes me up at night and scares me'

New Zealand songstress Lorde has revealed that something that really frightens her is the thought of getting older.

During a recent concert at New York's Roseland Ballroom, the rising star explained that she wrote a song about the daunting prospect of growing up, entitled 'Ribs', and it was inspired by the stress and fear she felt after throwing a house party while her parents were out of town:

"There's something crazy about following the behaviors of adults. It's something that wakes me up at night and makes me scared. I wanted to make that feeling tangible and make this song ('Ribs') sound soft. It's a greeny color in my head. It helps me with this."

Lorde also took to her official Twitter page late last night (March 10) and told her fans that she's coming down with a cold, but won't be cancelling any of her upcoming dates:

"Of course i am ill/losing voice first date of my 3 Roseland shows. We are still gonna have a giant dance party just stay out the way of me in case I spray you with spit and you get my disease."
