Lorde: 'My mother defended me from school bullies'

New Zealand songstress Lorde has revealed that she was teased for her appearance at school, but her wonderful mother defended her.

During a new interview with Billboard in celebration of Mother's Day, which falls on May 10 in the USA, the 'Team' superstar explained that her mum is fantastic and told a boy not to make fun of her after she was picked on for her full eyebrows:

"My mum is the best ever: When I was 8, she drove to my school and shouted at a boy who made fun of my mono-brow."

Lorde then added that her mother saw the incident as an opportunity to educate her about artist Frida Kahlo, who also had bushy brows: "Then she taught me about Frida Kahlo and why mono-brows are cool."

The hitmaker, meanwhile, is currently working on her second studio album and told her fans that she's feeling good about it so far: "First records are like meeting someone and feeling that need to do everything, just in case for whatever reason, you run out of time, or they stop feeling the same way as you. I feel much calmer, more comfortable in my love of doing this, and its apparent love of me, this time around. So there's that."
