Louis Tomlinson on 1D split conversation: 'It wasn't necessarily nice'

Louis Tomlinson sat down with The Observer Magazine for a frank conversation before the release of his next single, 'Back To You' feat. Bebe Rexha and Digital Farm Animals.

The former One Direction star spoke openly about the boyband's decision to take a break at a time when he was beginning to feel confident within the group, so it knocked him for six. Tomlinson said:

"In the last of One Direction I was probably the most confident I ever was. And then it was: 'OK, hiatus!'"

He initially thought he would just take a step away from the stage and concentrate on the label management side of things as that's where he felt most comfortable. He said:

"If you'd asked me a year or 18 months ago: 'Are you going to do anything as a solo artist?' I'd have said 'absolutely not.'"

Since then Louis Tomlinson was the first member of the band after the hiatus to release a solo single, which he did with Steve Aoki. 'Just Hold On' was released in December 2016 and reached No. 2 in the UK Singles Chart and No.52 in the US Billboard Hot 100 Chart.

Tomlinson announced that his new single will be called 'Back To You' and that it will feature BeBe Rexha and Digital Farm Animals on Twitter yesterday (June 24).
