Louis Tomlinson has had the most remarkable year in 2018.

He forged a career as a judge on The X Factor whilst recording his debut solo album and still got involved heavily in charity work. He reassured his fans that his involvement with the show would compliment his album's progress.

In June he posted an update, he tweeted: "Ok ok sorry I’ve been working hard! 

"Been spending the last couple of weeks working out an overall plan for the year and beyond that. Promise I’ll update you when it’s all in place."

Tomlinson's debut solo album was initially pencilled in for a summer release.

He then changed management and focussed on getting everything in place. He also announced in May that he was keen to tour with this album. 

The big-hearted star continued to lend his support to various charities, including The NHS Heroes Awards, where even living legend, Tito Jackson, was impressed by him.

Back To You, his single feat. Bebe Rexha and Digital Animals, reached Platinum status in the US, and Gold in the UK.

In July, it was announced that he had signed to the same marketing company that boasts Liam Payne as a client. 

The 27-year-old also won three awards this year, MTV's King of Pop Award, the Choice Male Artist Award and, more recently, Metro's Celeb of the Year Award. 

The biggest game changer for the singer-songwriter this year was becoming a judge on The X Factor, the show that created his band, One Direction. The show saw him reunite on screen with Payne at the Judges' Houses.

The Miss You star went on to win the show in December with his act, Dalton Harris. 

The year ended on an even bigger high as his final tweet (at time of writing) was on Christmas Eve, his birthday. He tweeted: 

"Secretly excited to get into the new year so I can get new music out ASAP!"
