Louis Tomlinson Signs Recording Contract With Arista Records

Louis Tomlinson has signed a recording contract with Arista Records.

The Sony Records subsidiary was relaunched under the leadership of Brit-born David Massey last year having been initially founded by the legendary Clive Davis in 1974. Massey reports directly to Sony boss, Rob Stringer.

Massey was President and CEO of Universal Music Group’s Island Records, where he oversaw the careers of Shawn Mendes, Demi Lovato, Nick Jonas, The Killers, Fall Out Boy, Mike Posner and Tove Lo, among others.

Prior to signing to Arista, Tomlinson has been signed to RCA Records but moved to Epic Records with his monster hit, 'Back To You (feat. Bebe Rexha and Digital Farms Animals)' got championed by Epic Records president, Sylvia Rhone and became a global chart success. All of the labels are under the helm of Sony Records.

Anticipation for new music from Tomlinson has been building up for over a year. It's a year ago this week that Tomlinson tweeted that he hoped to have his solo album out by the summer.

Since then he has changed management, employed a marketing company and became a judge on The X Factor, winning the show with his contestant, Dalton Harris. In fact, 2018 was a remarkable year for the young singer-songwriter. Earlier this month he tweeted that his vocals for his upcoming single have been completed.

Tomlinson's One Direction bandmate, Harry Styles, is signed to Columbia whilst former member, Zayn, is signed to RCA Records - both part of the Sony Records family. Niall Horan is signed to Capitol Records, and Liam Payne is with Republic Records. Both those labels are under the Universal Music Group umbrella.

Listen/stream Louis Tomlinson.
