Marina and The Diamonds broke two of her own records over the last week with her highest ever album entry at #1 in the Midweek chart for her second album ‘Electra Heart’ and her highest ever single position with a #10 single for new track ‘Primadonna’.

Marina’s debut album ‘The Family Jewels’ charted at #5 in the UK album charts and new album ‘Electra Heart’ topped that by charting in the Midweeks today at #1. With review comments ranging from ‘a blistering album’, ‘slick pop tunes’ and ‘punchy dancefloor fillers’, ‘Electra Heart’ has proved a huge leap forward for Marina, underlining that she is amongst the most talented young British artists around.

Fast paced, fun disco pop anthem ‘Primadonna’ went straight into #11 after gaining massive support on the Radio 1 A List, where Marina also performed the track in Fearne Cotton’s Live Lounge along with an impressive cover of Justin Bieber’s ‘Boyfriend’. Produced by Dr Luke, ‘Primadonna’ features strong, punchy electro beats alongside Marina’s distinguished vocal of entertaining tongue-in-cheek lyrics.

‘Power and Control’, produced by Steve Angello from Swedish House Mafia, will be the next single to come from ‘Electra Heart’ and will be released on 9th July. With intellectual but witty lyrics about the pains of romance backed by eerily fun, electro synths, ‘Power and Control’ is a perfect track to showcase ‘Electra Heart’ which is an honest story of identity, love, rejection, doomed romance and hope all tinged with humour and British eccentricity.

Marina has taken her critically acclaimed live show to all points on the globe over the last two years and has firmly cemented a reputation as one of the most enthralling performers around. Unfortunately Marina has had to postpone her UK tour dates until June due to illness but Marina will still be joining worldwide superstars Coldplay for five months on their US and European tour as a main support.
