Marina and the Diamonds treat fans to Valentine's Day gift

Songstress Marina Diamandis has given her followers around the world a present for Valentine's Day in the form of a song.

Writing on her official Twitter page this afternoon (February 14), she explained that to celebrate the romantic holiday she wanted to give her fans a gift: "Today is the birthday of Electra Heart & she has a Valentine gift for you..."

"NEW SONG: ♡ "E.V.O.L" ♡ Download for free before midnight. Produced by Liam Howe," she added.

The hitmaker also shared a link to the track's YouTube video, which is a simple black and white style edit that is injected with one scene of faded colour, that you can see below.

Diamandis recently opened up about her alter-ego, Electra Heart, and told her Twitter followers that it was originally intended to be a side project: "Electra Heart was originally a side project, separate from Marina And The Diamonds. I called my manager in April 2011 and said "Hello. Can I pretend to be a totally different person?" He said "No. You cannot"."
