Maroon 5 score first UK number one single with ‘Payphone’

Maroon 5 have scored their first ever UK number one single with ‘Payphone.’

The funk-rock outfit’s collaboration with Wiz Khalifa, also the first release from their upcoming fourth album, ‘Overexposed,’ became the third chart-topper in as many weeks to sell over 100,000 copies, pushing Cheryl Cole’s ‘Call My Name’ down to number two.

Elsewhere Flo Rida’s ‘Whistle’ fell to No.3, Stooshe achieved their second consecutive Top 10 hit with ‘Black Heart’ at No.4, while Coldplay & Rihanna’s ‘Princess of China’ dropped one place to No.5.

In the rest of the Top 40, there were new peaks for Katy Perry's 'Wide Awake' (No.12), Ed Sheeran's 'Small Bump' (No.27), and Skrillex's 'Bangarang' (No.29), while Florence & The Machine's 'Shake It Out' was a re-entry at No.40.
