Mary J. Blige opens up about being "borderline suicidal"

Mary  J. Blige opened up about her past drug and alcohol problems in a brand new 'Behind The Music' interview that aired in the U.S yesterday, July 24.

The show, which was screened on VH1, saw the talented singer explain that she was "borderline suicidal" and more like "the walking dead" than a person. She explained:

"I remember going down the wrong way on the FDR Drive (in New York)... I didn't realise this is how messed up we were. (I was) driving this way, the traffic's coming this way. I remember crashing my car into a wall, spinned (sic) out (of control), and my girlfriend was on the other side just screaming."

"I really didn't care about myself; I was borderline suicidal... I was like the walking dead; just smoking and drinking and hanging."

Since Blige's episode was shown last night, she's been inundated with messages from fans who have called her a "true role model", an inspiration and such a strong woman.
