Born and raised on the countryside of Denmark, Ann Christine is a 26-year old singer and songwriter who has been based in Berlin for the past five years. Growing up with a father who worked as a producer and guitar player in the Danish pop-music scene - and who spent much of her childhood bringing him with her on tour - Ann Christine has had music as part of her upbringing from a very early age. At the age of 16, she decided to move abroad for a year and finally found her own nerve in music among cowboys and Latin rhythms in a small mountain village of Chile.

Returning to Denmark, Ann Christine started writing her own songs, collaborating closely with her father on the production. In 2013 she released the very first song she ever wrote, “Drawn”, under the artist alias Ann See, which kick-started her music career faster than she had expected. “Drawn” received great attention from the Danish music industry, got playlisted on radio around Europe and brought her to the finals of the Danish Talent show “KarriereKanonen” in 2014. Here Ann Christine debuted on stage during Spot Festival where the feedback of her first performance was ranging from “magic” to “witchcraft”. Under her first artist project, Ann See, she later released her second single “Spin”, the EP “Figure” and performed as support act for the Norwegian pop-singer, Bernhoft.

By the end of 2014, Ann Christine packed her bags once again and moved to Berlin where she continued writing songs for herself, but also started co-writing with people from all over the world and writing songs for other artists. In early 2017 she released the single “Head Het Up”, which became the last music from Ann See. Fast forward two years and countless co-writing sessions and collaborations later, Ann Christine decided to take the witchcraft in her own hand by opening up a new artist project (in her own name) with a sound that reflects how five years in Berlin brutally shapes your youth. Inspired by her surroundings and the Berlin club scene, she sent out the single “New Men” to open up as an introduction to her new project.

And now Ann Christine is ready with her second single “Hocus Pocus”, where she reveals her ways around love (or lack thereof) and how she makes a thrill out of seduction - all for the fun of it:

“You don’t know I’m lawless
I break boys for breakfast
dressed in illusions of love
Seductive on purpose”

Despite the modern interpretation of man-eating, magic and cheap thrills, “Hocus Pocus” also touches upon a more sensitive dimension of the aspect, which is not being able to fall in love.
“If I could love, If I could feel what you do, I wouldn’t have to do this”

Being deeply inspired by tarot readings, each of Ann Christine ́s songs reflect her state of mind through tarot cards, where “Hocus Pocus” revolves around The Magician (and “New Men” around The Hanged Man). But the idea to the storytelling in “Hocus Pocus” came from episodes of her own life:

“Ann, you really do magic” someone (who’s name I won’t say) once told me. It made me realise that I had been living a bit lawlessly lately and thought it was so LOL that I went straight to the studio the day after to write a song on it,” she says. “Whether “Hocus Pocus” is about putting a smell on someone? Yes and no. We all just do what we do - and maybe someone also put a spell on me, too? But one thing is for sure: Magic is a fine art and it’s not for everyone to master it.”

As Halloween approaches who can argue with that?
