On Saturday award winning British band McFly performed at the centre of Oxford Circus to kick start the American Express® Shop West End VIP (Very Important Pedestrian) Day.

Oxford Street and Regent Street were again traffic-free and the streets closed to traffic from 8:00am to 8:00pm with the main activity taking place between 11:30am and 6:00pm.  The bandtreated shoppers to three hit songs and encourage pedestrians to get down early and snap up the best deals.

As part of the celebration, famous faces stepped behind the counter to serve customers on Oxford Street and Regent Street to raise money for Make-A-Wish-Foundation® UK. From James ‘Arg’ Argent, Duncan Bannatyne and Dionne Bromfield to Konnie Huq and stylist Grace Woodward, shoppers throughout London’s West End were surprised and delighted to find celebrities on hand to ring up their purchases - and all in aid of charity.

The American Express Shop West End VIP Day will be the biggest shopping weekend of the year to date, with over £100 million expected to be spent in London’s West End, and this year will capture the joy of gifting at Christmas – on a grand scale.

The weekend will be supporting this year’s charity partner which is Make-A-Wish Foundation® UK, it aims to grant magical wishes to children and young people aged 3-17 fighting life-threatening conditions.
