Nigerian Afropop singer and songwriter Teni, AKA Teni The Entertainer, has today revealed her brand-new single Jo, out now via London based artist services company Platoon. The new single is the first music to be released from an upcoming, new album in 2021, further details of which will be confirmed in the coming months.

Speaking about Jo, Teni says:

‘Jo is a feel-good song, it means to dance. It makes me feel good. It has been a crazy year and I hope it makes you feel happy, I hope it makes you dance and I hope it brings you closer to your loved ones’.

Jo is the follow up to 2019’s full length EP Billionaire, a release that has been streamed over 15,000,000 times to date.

A graduate in Business Administration from the American Intercontinental University in Atlanta, Teni is an incredibly diverse artist, who is as comfortable making Afropop, or RnB music as she is acting, as she displayed in her ‘Nollywood’ debut film Dear Affy earlier this year.

Teni has won a number of awards across her career to date, including ‘Best Female’ at this year’s Soundcity MVP Awards in Lagos, as well as 5 Headie Awards, which are awarded for outstanding achievements in the Nigerian music industry. She was also nominated for ‘Best African Act’ at the 2019 MTV Europe Music Awards.

Teni’s brand-new single Jo is out now via Platoon. She will be releasing further new music in the coming months.

Previous praise for Teni:

‘In a league of her own’ - Vogue
‘Sunny African pop hits that’ll always lift you up’ - The Fader
‘Rule-breaking artist shaking up Nigeria’s music industry’ - Complex

About Platoon:
Set up by Co-Founder and C.E.O. Denzyl Feigelson in 2016, Platoon landed its first success with BRIT Award winner Jorja Smith’s Blue Lights before fueling the explosion of Billie Eilish in 2017—migrating her from Soundcloud to stardom. By Apple’s 2018 acquisition of Platoon, the team consisted of 12 employees across London and Cape Town’s “Creative Lab,” while recent signings include Princess Nokia, Poo Bear, Aaron Smith, Victoria Monét, Marian Hill, and Cosima. Both offices boast 24-hour recording studios and double as inspiring ecosystems for artists to openly collaborate and create, in addition to classes for recording, filming and editing.
