Today acclaimed podcast ‘The Missing’ returns with its second series, launching across all podcast streaming platforms – listen to the first episode BELOW.

Beginning with the case of missing father Chad Gibson, Series Two of ‘The Missing’ will explore the stories of ten missing persons, including young mother Natalie Putt who disappeared aged seventeen in 2003, fifty-two year old expatriate Karen Milsom and an investigation to discover the life and origins of an unidentified body found on a UK beach, known only as Giorgios.

After premiering last year, the first series of ‘The Missing’ entered the UK podcasting charts at Number One in true-crime and Number Two on the Apple UK podcast chart, receiving widespread critical acclaim from the likes of Harper’s Bazaar, The Observer, The Sunday Times, The Daily Mirror and Stylist, who wrote that “compared to so many other popular unsolved mystery and true crime podcasts, this is a series that can actually make a difference to people’s lives.” The series was created in collaboration with UK charity Missing People and community interest group Locate International with a view to re-engage public interest in the cases of the long-term missing and to encourage those with information to come forward. Series One examined the cases of Charles Hovarth-Allan, Katrice Lee, Bernadette Cooper, Andrew Gosden, Fatima Mohamed-Ali, Suzy Lamplugh, Lana Purcell, Anne Simpson, Tony Haigh and Esra Uryun. Listen to previous episodes BELOW.

Speaking on the launch the second series of ‘The Missing’, host Pandora Sykes says:

"It has been a real privilege to work with What's The Story Sounds? on 'The Missing' to shine a light on the stories of so many of the long-term missing. I am thrilled that we are able to return with a second series, featuring ten further cases and also looking at some of the key themes around missing people, like: why do some cases get more attention than others? And what happens to unidentified bodies? It has been incredibly moving to see the public’s response so far, and Missing People and Locate International have worked tirelessly to respond to each and every lead provided. I look forward to continuing to work with What’s The Story Sounds and Podimo to highlight these unsolved mysteries."

In today’s episode, ‘The Missing’ explores the case of missing father of one Chad Gibson. Chad was last sighted leaving the Central Inn pub in Newquay at 6pm on the Saturday before Christmas, 2015. In this episode, the podcast delves into the events leading up to his last reported sighting, including an altercation caught on CCTV, and explores the possibility that a person or persons unknown may have caused his death. Chad’s mother Sharon also joins the podcast to share the profound impact of his disappearance and to appeal for anyone with information to come forward.

A few of the cases to be explored in Series Two include:

TERRY MCSPADDEN – In the weeks leading up to his disappearance in 2007, father of two Terry had expressed his alarm to friends following a series of unsettling occurrences – including waking one day to find someone had wrapped him, as if in a ‘cocoon’, with industrial cling film. After a night spent drinking with friends at a pub in Wisbech, the last confirmed sighting of Terry is from CCTV at a cashpoint nearby.

NATALIE PUTT – Natalie was seventeen and a mum to an 11-week old son when she disappeared from home in 2003. Though a body has never been recovered, an inquest held in 2019 concluded that Natalie was likely murdered, though how, and by whom remains unknown. This episode hears from her sister Rebecca, who still has hope that one day the family will have answers, and crucially, justice for Natalie.

KAREN MILSOM – Following an argument one afternoon in August 2019, British mother of two Karen Milsom left the home she shared with her husband in the Charente region of France with 6,000 euros in cash. Believing she was merely blowing off steam, her husband was sure she would return – until three weeks passed and he received a text to say that she had left their car at a train station, some twenty five miles away. Suspecting foul play, French police carried out extensive searches of Karen’s home and surrounding area, but to no avail. In this episode ‘The Missing’ hears from Karen’s best friend Claire who has a desperate appeal for answers – could Karen be pursuing a new life somewhere, or has something more sinister befallen her?

ALLAN BRYANT –Twenty three year-old Allan Bryant was only a mile from home when he disappeared without trace following a night out to celebrate a friend’s engagement in 2013. Was he involved in an accident on his walk home? Could he have been attacked? His family remain convinced that someone in their local community has knowledge of what happened to Allan, and his father joins 'The Missing' podcast to urge anyone with information to come forward.

DAMIEN NETTLES – Only sixteen years old at time of his disappearance, Damien remains one of the country’s highest profile missing persons. Reported missing following a night out on the Isle of Wight, his mother Valerie has campaigned for more than two decades to try and find answers – amidst rumors of the involvement of a local drug dealer and the possibility he was abducted.

‘The Missing’ is a Podimo podcast series produced by What’s The Story Sounds and made in association with specialists Locate International and Missing People.
