PRAISE FOR FUTURE UTOPIA’S ALBUM 12 QUESTIONS:

‘The 21 tracks comprise songs and poems of pain and loss, hope and encouragement, spoken-word thoughtfulness and urgent raps - of big ideas and big tunes… here’s an epic, multi-level, multi- voice concept album, about the philosophical past, crushing present and metaphysical future’ - The Telegraph

‘An uplifting, rich and transporting listen…12 Questions makes you feel that, just by addressing these subjects against exciting music, the world becomes a less scary place’ - The Times

World renowned producer, songwriter and musician Fraser T Smith has today revealed details of a brand-new, breakbeat infused Franky Wah remix of Future Utopia’s track Freedom, taken from the recent album 12 Questions. The original version of the recently released single features hotly tipped London based singer and songwriter Greentea Peng, former Black Panther Albert Woodfox and UK Grime legend Kano and has received great radio support from BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, 6 Music, Apple Music and Rinse FM.

Watch a visualiser for the remix, taken from Future Utopia’s recent live show at Peckham’s Bold Tendencies here.

Speaking about the Freedom remix, Fraser says:

‘Franky Wah is really making waves in the dance space at the moment, so it was an easy and obvious choice to have him collaborate on this remix. We’ve ended up with this breakbeat remix of Freedom that still holds its message and weight, something that was incredibly important to me when going into this project’.

Doncaster native Franky Wah has had a remarkable last 18 months, which have seen him gain acclaim and support from Pete Tong, who named him one of his ‘Rising Stars’ at the beginning of 2020. Franky’s 2020 Come Together release spent five weeks on the BBC Radio 1 A List and was nominated for ‘Hottest Record of The Year’ by Annie Mac. This year Franky has also collaborated with the likes of Sasha and Cristoph and released his single Not in Love feat. Lowes in March this year.

Franky Wah adds:

‘This track is so poignant, especially in this current moment and I really think we’ve managed to retain its feeling whilst flipping it into a dance floor filler. It was an honour to be asked to jump on this remix with Fraser. He’s one of the most respected in the game and the whole process was so smooth’.

Future Utopia’s recent 12 Questions album sees Fraser take centre stage and features an incredible roll call of some of Britain’s most vital and brilliant artists. Stormzy, Dave, Kano, Ghetts, Bastille, Es Devlin, Simon Armitage and Idris Elba are just some of the names featured on the album. 12 Questions is based on a series of twelve universal, human and urgent questions, all born of Fraser’s own anxieties about the world today. The album discusses issues including faith, freedom, race, gender, wealth, equality and ecology.

The album has now been streamed more than 6.5 million times globally, across Apple Music and Spotify and has seen a number of great playlist additions; New Music Daily, In My Room, Future Hits, Agenda, New Fire (Apple Music) and New Music Friday UK, AlternaRap, The Other List, Free Form, Concious and Jazz Rap (Spotify).

Fraser has also recently launched his own 12 Questions podcast. The podcast features conversations between Fraser and a wide range of remarkable guests, including the likes of Craig David, Brian Eno, Kae Tempest, George The Poet, Julie Adenuga, Jamie Oliver, Peter Crouch, Abbey Clancy and Nile Rodgers, who discuss the questions raised on the album, including Fear or Faith? How Much Is Enough? Do We Really Care? What’s in A Name? What’s the Cost of Freedom and What Is Love?
