Meghan Trainor treats herself to more time before album release

Meghan Trainor is currently putting the finishing touches to her upcoming album.

The Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter has continued to flourish creatively this year, having been inspired by the events of the past year, which has resulted in her wanting to write more songs.

Her new album Treat Myself was originally set to be released on August 31 but is now being rescheduled in order that the star can get everything out of her head properly and recorded in the studio for fans.

Taking to Instagram, the 24-year-old wrote: "This past year has been one of the most exciting of my entire life. I got engaged to the love of my life, Daryl! I got to hang out with Diddy, DJ Khaled and Fergie on The Four, and I released five new songs that I’m absolutely obsessed with. I’m in such an amazing place and I can’t stop writing songs... I’ve decided to move my new album TREAT MYSELF until I get everything out of my head and recorded in the studio. I’ve never been more excited for all of you to hear my new music. Thank you for your continued love and support. All the ways, MTRAIN [sic]"

Treat Myself will feature her fiancé Daryl Sabara on every track, as well as her father playing the piano and organs on one track.

The Let You Be Right star is set to appear as the musical guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live! tonight (Monday, August 6).

The title track to Trainor's upcoming album is out now

Meghan Trainor is one of only five female artists to receive a diamond certification, in this instance for her hit single All About That Bass, which shares the RIAA Gold & Platinum Awards top honor with only 15 other singles in history.
