October 30th sees Brighton based singer-songwriter Lauren Alex Hooper release “Honest”, the title track and final single from her Honest EP, one that serves as a celebration to the authenticity that flows within her music.

Pairing together strikingly unguarded and personal lyrics with upbeat pop instrumentation, Lauren Alex Hooper showcases why she is one to watch on “Honest”. An intricate, soft-rock inspired beat provides the backbone for the track, allowing Lauren’s dreamlike vocals to delicately intertwine with the piano passages and guitar chords.

When asked about the inspiration behind the song, Lauren said:
“It’s a celebration of the honesty of the previous four songs and of being honest and authentic about who you are, even and especially when it’s hard. It’s vulnerable and frightening and sometimes clumsy but it’s empowering too. There’s a relief to being exactly who you are.”

After the positive reception to her 2018 debut single, “Invisible”, for which all the song’s proceeds were donated to mental health charity Young Minds, Lauren Alex Hooper is hoping to cement her sound with her new EP. Having accidentally stumbled upon songwriting, she aims to create genre-less music that “puts the really hard stuff into words”. Taking inspiration from artists such as Halsey, Lauren Aquilina, and Taylor Swift, she combines catchy pop melodies with fresh sounding production to create her own unique style of pop.

While “Honest” was a labour of love to create, having worked with multiple producers to achieve the final single, Lauren Alex Hooper manages to create a vulnerable and honest narrative all the while creating a song that will make you want to get up on your feet.
