Mumford & Sons top UK chart with fastest-selling album of the year

Mumford & Sons have today topped the UK chart with the fastest-selling album of the year.

The nu-folk outfit’s second studio effort, ‘Babel,’ sold over 90,000 copies in just one day to replicate the chart-topping success of their 2009 debut album, ‘Sigh No More.’

Green Day’s ‘Uno’ debuted at No.2, just ahead of Pink’s ‘The Truth About Love,’ and last week’s number one, The Killers’ ‘Battle Born,’ while Britain’s Got Talent stars Jonathan & Charlotte entered the chart at No.5 with ‘Together.’

Elsewhere, there were new entries for Deadmau5’s 'Album Title Goes Here' (No.9), Lucy Rose’s 'Like I Used To' (No.13), No Doubt’s 'Push and Shove' (No.16), Deacon Blue’s 'The Hipsters' (No.19), The Beach Boys' 'Greatest Hits' (No.30) and Steve Harris’ 'British Lion' (No.39).
